Another great lesson!

Students learnt how to use glass paints and created some beautiful pieces of art inspired by the one and only Damien Hirst.

Many thanks to Miss Rooney for helping me clean those rotten paintbrushes! Make sure to thank her when you see her! :)

LO: Create a character & transfer to London location

UK artist Uh-Oh, also known as Nick Shove is from Leicester and specialises in painting graffiti art and characters on canvas.

His monsters (characters) start life as a doodle in his sketchpad and after some tweaking, erasing and re-drawing the lucky ones get penned in and marked out. The monsters are eventually created using a mixture of spray-paints, paint pens, markers and acrylics. He also paints on skateboards, shoes and anything else he can!

In some of his work he has combined bold, colourful, black out-lined characters in various locations or famous landmarks. This combination is so effective!

Today, students created their very own Uh-Oh inspired character and placed it in a London location.

Instructions
1. Roughly sketch as many Uh-Oh style characters in your sketchpad as possible. Look at the artist research sheet if you need some inspiration.

2. Decide which character you like best and transfer onto white card. Try your best to make your character blend into your London location.

3. Use a black felt tip to create the bold out-line.

4. Give your character colour using felt tips or paint.

5. Finally, when your character is dry, cut out and glue onto location.

Take a look at their amazing creations.....

I hope Nick Shove is as proud of these creations as I am?! Well done Art Club! :)

A little bit of Street Art to brighten up your Monday!

A local Street Artist strikes in our community :)

It's almost Art Club time....

All the pupils Art Club packs are ready and waiting for their first lesson on Wednesday.

Pupils must be responsible for their own packs and must make sure that they are brought to every lesson.

Each waterproof zip-wallet pack contains...

1 x Sketchpad
1 x Conclusion writing book (contains a useful list of sentence starters and a small glossary at back)
1 x Pencil
1 x Rubber

Written in the first page of each pupil's sketchpad is the Art Club blog address.

I wonder who will be the first to have their work uploaded to this blog?! :)
